We lost 400 000 GBP by taking the wrong advise, by following the wrong mentor.
This wasn’t our money, we had borrowed money from family and friends. After the losses, our accountants, partners and other experts all advised us to bankrupt the company and let the investors take the loss as they had invested in what was now a failed venture.
Instead, we chose to find ways to par our investors back.
We knew we couldn’t do it alone and this was the start of the Swedish Wealth Institute. We needed help, coaching, mentoring from mentors we could trust – and we realized we weren’t the ones!
We went through really tough times to do right by our investors, legally we didn’t need to, we could simply bankrupt the company, but morally, we wanted to reward their trust by at least getting them their money back. It took years of struggle and we even went so far as to sell our home and move into our tiny 20m2 summer house which was poorly insulated and only had water in the summer.
During the winter in Sweden, with snow outside, we had to take our two children to the toilets 100m away, while also using a wheelbarrow to fill a canister of water and bring back. We would boil the water to do the dishes etc. We did this because we wanted to make sure our mistakes didn’t affect our investors.
Luckily today life is different and with the help of mentors like Kim Kiyosaki and the other amazing partners we work with, our lives have changed, as have the lives of people all over the world.
